Frankfurt

Frankfurt, which hosts Germany's third largest marathon each year, is known for its rolling routes. The banks of the Main are therefore a perfect place to run, especially for long-distance runners.

Frankfurt am Main is Germany's fifth largest city by population and has the tenth largest urban area in Europe. Almost completely destroyed by Allied bombing during the Second World War, it is now the country's leading economic centre and the European Union's leading financial centre. As a result, it is one of the few cities in Europe with a large number of skyscrapers, including the Commerzbank Tower, which opened in 1997 and stands 259 metres high! However, if you run around the city centre, you will discover several typical buildings that bear witness to what Frankfurt was like before the war. One of them is the Römerberg square, where the town hall is located, as well as several old churches and synagogues. The Sachsenhausen district on the other side of the Main is also typical with its small cobbled streets. It is the perfect place to have a glass of Apfelwein or eat local food after a long tour of the city!
